- Northumberland, in North East England was once part of the Roman Empire.
This is a view of Cawfields, which is situated on Hadrians Wall.
The Wall marked the northern lines in Britain and also the most heavily fortified border in the Empire.
In the Photograph the Wall runs over the top of the hill, then
East for another forty miles or so.
Its also worth mentioning that the scenery this part of Northumberland offers is Breath taking.
Hadrians Wall or (The Roman Wall), was made a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987.
English Heritage, describes it as :
"The most important monument built by the Romans in Britain"
